Fashion Workers Act – Prospects in the Italian fashion industry

Born from an idea by President Alessio Di Pietro and Vice President Ambra Battilana Gutierrez for a discussion on the Fashion Workers Act—an achievement of Model Alliance—and on its possible prospects within the Italian landscape, the initiative evolved into something much more: a moment of genuine dialogue in which fashion, law, and education intertwined, exchanging ideas and diverse perspectives.
This was made possible thanks to the support of MD Model Academy, which hosted the initiative in a fashion landmark that embodies commitment, dedication, and daily work, and of LAWP Studio Legale e Tributario, which developed an in-depth legal analysis of the model management system—an essential starting point for Fashion in Progress’s next steps.
Everything was further strengthened by the Municipality of Milan which, on the proposal of Councillor for Economic Development and Labor Policies Alessia Cappello, recognized the significance of the initiative for the city’s role in international fashion.
The event featured the expert moderation of Michela Proietti, journalist for Corriere della Sera, as well as contributions from Prof. Rossella Esther Cerchia of the University of Milan, who offered an insightful cross-cutting perspective on model management beyond Italian borders; from Maurizio Marullo of LAWP Studio Legale e Tributario, who provided a clear technical analysis of the sector; and from Marina Dokic of MD Model Academy, who advocated for a more transparent and virtuous fashion industry starting from the very first steps.
